Challenge

Larsen Packaging is one of the fast-growing suppliers of packaging products. Located in St. Charles, Illinois, they are one of the Midwest’s rare “hybrids”; a distributor and manufacturer of shipping products & e-commerce packaging.

The team at Larsen came to Webfitters in search of an organization that could provide timely maintenance and updates to their outdated site.

After looking through their existing website we identified significant upgrades that would need to be implemented in order to meet the evolving business requirements that Larsen Packaging was dealing with.

We came to a final understanding with the Larsen team that a complete overhaul of their website was necessary in order to provide them with an online space they could grow in.

Solution

We worked closely with their team to ensure the purpose-built solutions we developed would meet their requirements. We started by transferring their Magento ecommerce system to our servers and built the new Larsen Packaging website on our custom CMS platform. This ensured fast load times, secure hosting and continuous support from our team.

We then integrated with their ERP system for access to product, pricing, customer, tax, payment, and shipping data. When an order is placed it gets put into their ERP system and is ready to be processed, minimizing errors by drawing data for products and customers from a single source. This also allows their customers to see items and pricing, freight shipping methods, and specific payment terms unique to them based on the data loaded into the ERP system for that specific customer.

On the front end, we created the “Shop Products” menu and imported the data to develop product categories, category trees, images and product descriptions for a strong user experience. See an example of a product category here! This helps create organization and mitigates customer overwhelm.

Videos were placed in headers that immediately catch visitor’s attention, engaging them from the second they land on the page. A featured categories section shines a spotlight on popular products or other categories that Larsen Packaging would like to highlight.
