Bay Area Workforce Development Board

WordPress Website, Community Impact Showcase, and Private Portal

Challenge

Established in 1983, the Bay Area Workforce Development Board (WDB) is a public, non-profit 501(c)3 corporation and one of 11 Wisconsin Workforce Development areas formed in 1998. As the fiscal and administrative agent, Bay Area WDB is dedicated to delivering locally customized job training and workforce development initiatives within an 11-county area, including Brown, Door, Florence, Kewaunee, Manitowoc, Marinette, Menominee, Oconto, Outagamie, Shawano, and Sheboygan counties. Their mission is to prepare today’s workforce and build the workforce for tomorrow, leading a coordinated workforce development system in Northeast Wisconsin. The core value is that every person has the opportunity to reach their full potential, which drives their efforts and initiatives.

The Bay Area Workforce Development Board (BAWDB) faced significant issues with its website, which needed updating and was overburdened with content. The site could have been more user-friendly, easier to navigate, and more convenient to manage and update. BAWDB needed a solution that would provide greater control and flexibility, enabling it to manage content and engage more effectively with its community effectively.

Solution

Our team at Webfitters took on the challenge of overhauling the Bay Area Workforce Development Board’s website, focusing on contemporary design and user-friendly navigation. We introduced a clean and modern aesthetic that aligns with current web standards and appeals to users, ensuring the new design is fully responsive for an optimal experience across all devices. The website’s content structure received a major revamp; we consolidated and simplified the existing information to enhance site flow and accessibility.

We added a Community Initiatives section that provides a dynamic space for filterable, categorized case studies highlighting BAWDB’s dedication to community impact. A newly integrated News & Events section is a central hub for informing the community about the latest happenings and forthcoming events. Additionally, we created an exclusive Member Portal that offers a secure environment for sharing private resources, adding significant value for registered members. To enhance the functionality and appeal of the Bay Area Workforce Development Board’s redesigned website, we developed several key features:

  • Contemporary and Clean Design: We’ve infused the website with a modern aesthetic that aligns with contemporary web standards, creating an inviting atmosphere that enhances user engagement.
Mobile-Friendly Interface: Recognizing the importance of accessibility, the new design is optimized for seamless functionality across all devices, ensuring that every user experiences optimal performance and accessibility.
  • Reorganized Sitemap and Content: By simplifying and consolidating the site’s content, we’ve improved the overall flow, making it easier for users to navigate and quickly find the information they need.
  • Community Initiatives Section: This new section is designed with filterable, categorized case studies that vividly showcase BAWDB’s deep involvement and impactful contributions to the community.
  • News & Events Section: We have established a central hub for all newsworthy happenings and upcoming events, keeping the community informed and engaged with regular updates.
  • Exclusive Member Portal: Our team developed a secure, members-only portal that provides a private platform for sharing exclusive resources, enhancing the value supplied to stakeholders, and reinforcing community ties.

The transformation of the BAWDB website has not only revitalized its online presence but also significantly improved its functionality and user engagement. The new platform now accurately represents BAWDB’s capabilities, provides an intuitive product discovery experience, and empowers them to maintain a dynamic online presence. This revamped site allows BAWDB to effectively communicate with its community and showcase its initiatives, furthering its mission to develop the workforce in the Bay Area.
