WordPress 5.0 Is Officially Released. Should You Upgrade Your Website?

Published on December 6, 2018

WordPress, the world’s most popular Content Management System(CMS), announced yesterday that they would be releasing their newest update to the platform. WordPress 5.0, nicknamed “Bebo,” is designed to give users a more friendly experience when it comes to editing the content on their website.

This new editing system puts each section of content into its own block, which makes it easier to determine where on the page the content is placed and how it’s displayed to visitors. These “blocks” will be able to house content such as written paragraphs, multimedia, and embedded files, as well as a variety of other types.

With the recent release comes a variety of mixed reviews. For those who like the new program, the ease of editing content is the main theme. Business owners who are limited on time when managing their website will be able to add and update their content more efficiently. On the flip side, with every new software release comes the possibility of unfixed “bugs.” Individuals on the other end of the spectrum are warning users of potential issues that have not yet been identified/solved by the WordPress team. Although these issues will be figured out sooner than later, there is the possibility that they may negatively affect your website.

So, the big question is “should you upgrade your website to WordPress 5.0?” Before you do, we recommend checking with our WordPress experts. They’ll make sure your website is ready for the upgrade. If you have any questions feel free to send us a message here or give us a call at (920) 339-5207.
